Testing And Analysis Procedure

In our laboratories, we meticulously examine our entire range of products for the following certifications:

• Colour Consistency – Highly important as it indicates just how pure and balanced the oil is, a lost art in the aromatherapy world, due to the use of brown glass bottles which hide the oils’ colour.
• Viscosity – How the oils feels on the skin. Texture and consistency indicates the quality of the extraction method and therefore quality of the oil.
• Organoleptic testing- We carefully evaluate the aroma for its full note range. Using our professional experience to select the purest and most balanced oils amongst the batch being tested.
• Composition – Essential oils are composed of many constituents, typically about 100, though it can range from 10 to 200. Factors that affect the composition, and therefore the quality of an oil, include where the plant was grown (country of origin, latitude, elevation) soil and weather conditions, time of day and time of year of harvest, and various parameters of distillation.
• Certificate of Analysis
• MSDS Analysis

All of these factors potentially affect both quality and therapeutic effect of Essential Oils.

Following this, our oils are sent to one of several third-party laboratories where they undergo multiple tests including Gas Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry (also known as GC/MS testing). Testing facilities now include the use of the most up-to-date GC-MS (Gas Chromatography – Mass Spectrometry) laboratories in India, which can detect down to 0.001% trace substances. Each oil is individually tested and analysed to detect the exact proportion and quantities of correct components.

Traceability and Batch information.

Every batch of oil we receive goes through both rounds of testing, and these tests will show us the quality of the oil and also what is in the oil. Contaminants or adulterants show up with these tests.

Every bottle of oil that you purchase from Beach Stone Aroma will have a specific batch code that tells us exactly what batch of oil is in your bottle. This information is also directly linked to the testing reports for each batch of oil.
